On September 14th, Hu Jun led a delegation to the Hainan Lingshui Lian International Education Innovation Pilot Zone. The delegation attended the 2025 Freshman Opening Ceremony of the University of Glasgow College Hainan, visited and expressed sympathy to the faculty and students of the institute, and conducted research on the university's Sino-foreign cooperative education in Hainan. Li Huiyong, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and Vice President, participated in the research.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Hu Jun congratulated the students on embarking on a new journey at UESTC. He encouraged them to inherit the spirit of UESTC and contribute their youth to the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port. He put forward three hopes for the students' future study and life: First, he hoped the students would clarify their original aspirations, uphold their true qualities, cultivate a sense of national belonging, and demonstrate their responsibilities on the vibrant land of the Free Trade Port.Secondly, he hoped the students would broaden their global horizons, integrate the advantages of China and foreign countries, and shape their life visions in the melting pot of cross-cultural exchanges.Thirdly, he hoped the students would nurture humanistic care, enhance their comprehensive literacy, shine in innovative practices, and strive to write their own wonderful life chapters.

At the University of Glasgow College Hainan, Hu Jun and Li Huiyong, together with heads of functional departments and Chinese and British directors of the College Hainan, visited student dormitories to learn about the students' living conditions. They held a discussion with student representatives of the institute, listened to the representatives share their study and life experiences in Hainan, and affirmed the positive and studious demeanor shown by the student representatives as members of UESTC. They encouraged the students to make early plans, adapt to the rapid changes in science and technology, explore the frontiers of interdisciplinary studies, practice the concept of "Chinese Feelings and International Vision", deepen their professional skills, forge a strong character, set clear life goals, root themselves in the land of China, and grow into leading talents who "know China and understand the world".

Li Huiyong stated that the university provides unified coordination, unified management and strong support for the College Hainan. In the future, the university will further explore the student exchange mechanism between the two campuses. He urged the students of Hainan to fully leverage the advantage of multi-university integration, strengthen exchanges and interactions among Sichuan, Hainan and the University of Glasgow in the UK, actively expand their horizons, and promote their all-round development.

During the visit, Hu Jun and his delegation inspected the construction site of the university's exclusive building, and learned about the progress of the building construction and its future planning.
