The Sino-Foreign Joint Educational Institute in Hainan (“JEI Hainan”)

Glasgow College Hainan is a joint institution established by the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) and the University of Glasgow (UofG) in the UK, which is affiliated to UESTC. The college was founded on April 11, 2022, with official approval from the Chinese Ministry of Education. The college is located in Lingshui International Education Innovation Pilot Zone, Lingshui Lizu autonomous county, Hainan Province.

The institution is a second-level college, which mainly offers Electronic Information (Chinese-foreign cooperative education), including Communication Engineering and Electronic Information Engineering majors. In the first year, students are trained according to the major category and study courses including Calculus, Linear Algebra and Spatial Analytic Geometry, University Physics, Introduction to Programming, Microelectronic Systems, Academic English, and Engineering English. From the second year onwards, students will choose either the Communication or Electronic Information Engineering program for in-depth study according to their interests and strengths. The teaching of Glasgow College Hainan is characterized by the adoption of the University of Glasgow's syllabus and curriculum design. At the same time, relying on the high quality of educational resources of the two schools to use inspirational, research-based teaching models, is committed to cultivating students' innovative thinking ability, aiming to cultivate outstanding talents with an international vision, international competitiveness, and a high sense of social responsibility. All professional teaching in the College is included in the quality control system of Chinese and British higher education, and qualified graduates are awarded degrees from both the University of Electronic Science and Technology and the University of Glasgow.

Based on the university's characteristic advantages in the field of electronics and information, serving the national marine strategy, and with the fundamental principle of cultivating morality, the college will develop into an internationalized high-level talent training base and an innovative research highground in the field of marine electronics and information, and will make its due contribution to the construction of a world-class university.
