Nestled at the southern tip of China, the tropical paradise of Hainan spans an expanse of 35,400 square kilometers of land, complemented by a vast maritime area of approximately 2 million square kilometers, and is home to a populace of roughly 10 million souls. It stands as the second largest island within China's borders, following the formidable Taiwan.

Hainan's storied past is evident through archaeological treasures, revealing that as far back as 10,000 years ago, the ancient "Sanya Man" inhabited this land. The year 214 BC marks a significant chapter with Emperor Qin Shihuang's establishment of Xiang County, followed by the strategic relocation of a substantial populace from the mainland.

Strategically positioned, Hainan looks out to the Qiongzhou Strait to the north, bordering Guangdong Province, and is flanked by the Beibu Gulf to the west, with Vietnam in its western view and the Southeast Asian nations of the Philippines, Brunei, and Malaysia to the southeast and south. This island province serves as a pivotal position between Northeast and Southeast Asia, and acts as a maritime conduit between the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

On the 13th of April, 1988, a historic declaration was made by the central government of China, proclaiming the inception of Hainan Province and the establishment of a unique economic zone. The province's capital, the picturesque Haikou, affectionately known as the "Coconut City," graces the island with its charm.

On April 13, 2018, Mr. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China announced that the central government would support Hainan island in building a pilot free trade zone, in gradually exploring and steadily advancing the construction of a free trade port.

As the largest special economic zone in China, and the pioneering free trade pilot zone and port with distinctive Chinese characteristics, Hainan is dedicated to its transformation into a example for comprehensive reform and openness, an ecological civilization model, an international hub for tourism and consumption, and a strategic service support base.

Hainan boasts the most favorable policies and the highest level of openness within the nation. It is set to implement policies of investment and trade liberalization, special fiscal measures, and to establish competitive and influential customs supervision zones. The past two years have seen a surge in market entities, from 610,000 to 940,000, attracting 28 Fortune 500 enterprises. Renowned international accounting firms and educational establishments, such as PwC, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and the prestigious Harrow School from the UK, have found their home here.

Hainan's comprehensive transportation infrastructure connects it to the global stage, with 103 international routes currently servicing 62 major overseas cities. The island is committed to expanding and enhancing these air and maritime links to develop deeper cultural and economic ties worldwide.

The island takes pride in its pristine ecological environment, offering a year-round pleasant climate, abundant sunshine, and clean air and water. With an annual average temperature ranging from 23 to 26 degrees Celsius, an air quality index that exceeds 99.8% year round, and a forest coverage rate of 62.1%, Hainan is a sanctuary for nature lovers.

As an internationally celebrated tourist destination, Hainan is situated on the 18th parallel north—a globally acknowledged "golden tourism line." As China's sole tropical island, it offers an unparalleled wealth of tourism resources, including 1944 kilometers of coastline, 68 exquisite bays, over 81 mountains soaring above 1000 meters, extensive national forest parks, and more than 70 natural hot springs.

The azure sky, pristine white clouds, the sapphire sea, sandy beaches, radiant sunlight, lush rainforests, and the picturesque landscapes of mountains and rivers, along with the delectable cuisine... These are but glimpses of Hainan's allure. To truly grasp the full spectrum of its unique charm, one must embark on a personal journey of discovery and experience.
