On July 19, the second session of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China's (UESTC) Hong Kong Elite Enterprise Internship Program (IBEP) successfully concluded. This program, consisting of five sessions in total, involves 15 students from UESTC's Glasgow College and Glasgow College, Hainan. To date, the first two sessions have been completed, with the subsequent three sessions set to proceed as scheduled.
This program is jointly organized by UESTC and Hong Kong Sinowa Education International Group Co., Ltd. It arranges for students to participate in sessions held at enterprises such as Prudential plc in the UK and Manulife in Hong Kong. The program features meticulously designed activities including corporate practice, university visits, finance lectures, and group tasks, all aimed at broadening students' horizons and enhancing their career planning capabilities and interdisciplinary competencies.

Prior to the program, 10 students from Glasgow College and 5 from Glasgow College, Hainan were selected through a rigorous process of resume screening and all-English telephone interviews. To prepare them, the University's Office of International Cooperation and Exchange provided systematic pre-departure training, ensuring students were well-prepared in terms of knowledge and mindset.
During the program, students systematically studied professional content such as the "Four Buckets" wealth allocation strategy and customer profile analysis, expanding their financial knowledge. They visited The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), experiencing its internationalized academic atmosphere. Observing parliamentary procedures firsthand at the Legislative Council deepened their understanding of Hong Kong's financial regulatory system.

The core courses were conducted within the corporate office buildings, highly simulating real-world financial work environments. Under the guidance of senior corporate mentors, students delved into studying the core advantages and operational mechanisms of Hong Kong as an international financial center, learned to use financial tools for risk assessment, and mastered the core logic of asset allocation.

There was a "CashFlow Practical Simulation Competition” during the program which required students to make dynamic asset allocations, risk assessments, and trading decisions under time constraints, honing their quick response abilities, data analysis skills, and courage to seize opportunities amidst uncertainty. A team points-based competition system ran throughout the program, stimulating collaboration and innovation through cross-university team formation and case studies.
Furthermore, the program organized activities for students to explore Hong Kong beyond the classroom. Guided by relevant personnel from the business school, students visited HKUST's modern innovation centers, libraries, and other academic facilities, experiencing the university's excellent learning environment and strong academic atmosphere up close, which ignited their enthusiasm for deepening their professional studies.

At the Hong Kong Legislative Council Building, by observing legislative meetings and engaging with legislative procedures, students gained a profound understanding of the logic behind Hong Kong's financial market regulation, policy formulation processes, and key considerations for maintaining market stability, significantly broadening their international perspective and policy comprehension.

In the results presentation, UESTC students performed exceptionally well, with several receiving management trainee internship offers and mentor recommendation letters. Their solid professional foundation, outstanding teamwork, and innovative thinking garnered unanimous praise from the corporate mentors, vividly exemplifying the UESTC student spirit of "To seek facts and truth, to be noble and ambitious " and their global competence.
This program not only systematically enhanced students' practical financial skills and interdisciplinary perspectives but also, through immersive workplace experiences and cultural exchange, helped foster their growth into well-rounded talents possessing both professional competence and international competitiveness.
