June 27, UESTC - University of Glasgow Sino-foreign Cooperative Schools Joint Management Committee held a meeting in the Qingshuihe Campus, President Prof. Zeng Yong, Vice President Prof. Luo Guangchun, President of the University of Glasgow Prof. Muscatelli, Vice President Sandison attended the meeting, members of the Joint Management Committees of the two institutions of cooperation in the UK summed up the focus of collaboration between the two universities in the past year, to promote high-quality development of Glasgow College, Glasgow College Hainan in an in-depth exchange of views.
On behalf of the university, Zeng Yong thanked the leaders and teachers of the University of Glasgow for their care, support, and help in the development of Glasgow College and Glasgow College Hainan. He said that the three-year epidemic had a great impact on Sino-foreign cooperation in running the schools, both sides proactively sought solutions and strived to reduce the impact of the epidemic on students, the rate of graduates pursuing further studies has bucked the trend, and the quality of further studies has risen year by year, which is a gratifying achievement.
The establishment of Glasgow College Hainan is an important step for the school to integrate into the national development strategy and participate in the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port, which is of great significance to the international co-operation between the two schools. It is hoped that in the future, the two universities will further improve coordination and communication mechanism between the two sides, strengthen teaching management and quality control, build a high-level and diversified faculty, and further improve the quality of talent cultivation. UESTC will continue to give greater support to the College in terms of faculty construction, improvement of the school environment, etc., and work hand in hand with the University of Glasgow in an effort to build Glasgow College and Glasgow College Hainan into one of the top Chinese-foreign co-operative educational institutions in China.
On behalf of the University of Glasgow, Muscatelli expressed his gratitude to the University of Electronic Science and Technology for its hard work in the construction of the Glasgow College, and his heartfelt pleasure in attending the Sino-British Joint Management Committee meeting offline after the epidemic, stating that under the sincere co-operation between the two sides, overcoming the impact of the epidemic and reaching the established teaching goals, the rate and quality of further studies of Glasgow graduates are indicative of the achievements of the past ten years of development, and that the Glasgow graduates have changed the world. The establishment and smooth operation of Glasgow Hainan College is very exciting, as a British institution to participate in it, I feel honoured.
