From March 1st to 3rd, Robert Partridge, Director of Student and Academic Services at the University of Glasgow, and David Young, Executive Dean of Glasgow College, arrived at Hainan Lingshui Li'an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone to visit Hainan Glasgow College. Liu Ming, Deputy Director of the Pilot Zone Administration, Yuan Songyang, Deputy Director of the Pilot Zone Administration, Di Aiying, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, Liu Guanghui, Dean of the College, Li Ying, Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office of the University and other relevant personnel attended the event.
On March 1st, the guests of the University of Glasgow first visited the exhibition hall of the pilot zone and listened to the introduction of the park to the major national strategic needs, the construction plan and development goals of the park and the introduction of universities. Subsequently, the delegation came to the living area of Binhai Campus, public teaching buildings and other places to inspect the construction of the park and have in-depth exchanges with the representatives of the park. The representative of the University of Glasgow expressed the hope that the park will continue to build a world-class education park for sino-foreign cooperation in running schools, and promote the innovative practice of higher education in the world.
After the on-site visit, the representatives of the Chinese and British universities had a discussion with the members of the leadership team of the pilot zone and the heads of relevant functional departments. At the meeting, the leaders of the pilot zone extended a warm welcome to the visit of the British side and described in detail the planning concept and construction of the pilot zone. The British representative of the University of Glasgow affirmed the vision planning and development speed of the park, congratulated the university on the fruitful results of the cooperation with the pilot zone, and hoped that the Hainan Ge Institute and the pilot zone would further deepen the cooperation and provide a broad platform for the college to flourish in the Hainan Free Trade Port. Dean Liu Guanghui reviewed the cooperation with the pilot zone and the British side, thanked all parties for their participation and support, and hoped to continue to strengthen the tripartite communication mechanism to promote the integrated development of the college and the park. At the meeting, they also exchanged views on the construction of the exclusive building of the University of Electronic Science and Technology in the pilot zone and the improvement of the student experience in the park.
On March 2nd, the guests of the University of Glasgow came to the Hainan Geyuan of the Public Experimental Building of the Experimental Zone for investigation, visited the teaching, laboratory and administrative areas of the college, and communicated with relevant personnel on the allocation of laboratory resources, classroom smart equipment, reading room, etc.
After the visit, the delegation had a discussion with the leaders of various hospitals and departments in Hainan. Dean Liu Guanghui thanked the delegation for choosing Hainan Ge Institute as the first stop of this domestic visit and research, and said that after the careful preparation and vigorous efforts of the two universities, the current work of the college is running smoothly, and he looks forward to close exchanges with the University in the future, deepen cooperation, and contribute the wisdom and strength of Chengdian to the construction of a high-level free trade port in Hainan. Secretary Di Aiying thanked the University of Glasgow for its long-term support and concern for the school's Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools, and hoped that the two sides would develop together and promote each other, so that more teachers and students could benefit. Robert and David thanked the School for its unremitting efforts to promote the establishment of schools in Hainan Province, and the University of Glasgow will continue to give more support to the School to jointly promote the establishment of a cooperation platform with Hainan and promote comprehensive cooperation and exchanges. At the symposium, the two sides conducted in-depth discussions on teacher protection and training, and students' learning and living experience in the park.
During the visit, the British delegation also went into classrooms and canteens to have cordial exchanges with teachers and students, and learned about their work, study and life in Hainan.
