Liu Guanghui is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Information and Communication Engineering, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC).
He obtained his Master's and Doctoral degrees from the School of Electronic Engineering at UESTC in 2002 and 2005, respectively. From 2005 to 2009, he worked at Samsung Electronics' semiconductor division in Suwon, South Korea, as a researcher. In 2009, he returned to UESTC, where he has held positions from associate professor to professor/doctoral supervisor.
He has been engaged in teaching, scientific research, and talent cultivation in the fields of mobile communication systems, communication signal processing, machine learning/deep learning, and their applications. He has been teaching the postgraduate course "Modern Wireless Communication Principles" for more than ten years and has also taught undergraduate courses such as "Digital Radio Fundamentals," which have been widely praised. In the past three years, he has led or participated in six provincial or university-level educational reform projects and has won three first or second prizes for teaching achievements. He has trained more than 50 master's and doctoral graduates for the country, who are now employed by top companies and research institutes such as Huawei, Qualcomm USA, Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, ByteDance, Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai), Southwest Jiaotong University, and Southern University of Science and Technology. He has been responsible for or completed more than 20 scientific research projects, including key and general projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation. Based on his scientific research, he has published more than a hundred high-level academic papers, including 29 papers in IEEE Transactions such as TWC, TCOM, TSP, TIP, TCSVT, TVT, TMM, TGRS, and TB. He has also published more than 40 papers at CCF-A class international conferences such as ICCV, AAAI, ACM MM, and IEEE flagship conferences such as ICC, Globecom, ISCAS, and BMSB. He has applied for more than 60 invention patents, including more than 40 authorized Chinese invention patents and 6 authorized US invention patents (as the sole inventor). He has won several scientific research awards, including the second prize of the Ministry of Education's Natural Science Award, the second prize of the Ministry of Education's Science and Technology Progress Award, and the Sichuan Province Science and Technology Progress Award. He maintains long-term cooperation with the industry, and his technology related to super-Nyquist rate transmission won the Huawei "Outstanding Technical Cooperation Achievement" award in 2021.
He is a senior member of the IEEE (IEEE Senior Member), a member of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, and has served as the publication chair for several important international conferences such as IEEE ISPACS / VCIP. He is also a reviewer for more than ten authoritative academic journals, including the Journal of Electronics, IEEE TCOM, TWC, TVT, IEEE Communications Letters, etc.
