    Di Aiying, born in December 1965, is now a professor of School of Foreign Languages, UESTC. Her major research fields and interests lie in the teaching of translation and English language in intercultural communication. From 1982 to 1986, she studied as an undergraduate in the English Department of Beijing Language and Culture University. From 1986 to 1988, she engaged in the postgraduate program of English Language and Literature in the Department of Foreign Languages of Beijing Normal University. After her graduation in July 1988, Prof. Di was assigned to serve in the Department of Foreign Languages of UESTC, which is now the School of Foreign Languages. She was then given an accelerated promotion to associate professor in 1993 and the qualification to be the tutor for masters majoring in Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics in 1998. Three years later in June, 2001, she was promoted to professor. From September, 2005 to December, 2010, Prof. Di was in-service studying in Sichuan University for her PhD degree in Translation and Intercultural Communication, a research branch of Foreign Languages and Literature. From January to July, 2007, she pursued further study as a visiting scholar in the Translation and Intercultural Studies Centre of University of Manchester.

    From November, 2001 to January, 2006, Prof. Di served as the Head of Administration of School of Foreign Languages. During the 12 years from June, 2008 to October, 2020, she took the post as Director of International Cooperation and Exchanges Office (also Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office) as well as Dean of School of International Education. Starting from October, 2020, Prof. Di has been in office as Head of Administration of Glasgow College, UESTC.

    Prof. Di has been awarded a wide range of honors, including National Outstanding Individual of Teacher Virtues, Outstanding Teacher of UESTC, Excellent Party Member of Universities in Sichuan Province, and Third Prize of Huo Yingdong Young Teacher Award of Higher Education Institutions by the Ministry of Education. In addition, she was once responsible for courses such as Comprehensive English, Intercultural Communications, Classic Criticism and Appreciation of Translation, Appreciation of English Language and Culture, International Education and Intercultural Communication, as well as Cultural Differences and Intercultural Communication. Prof. Di also directed many teaching and research projects at both university-level and province-level, including Construction of the Academic English Curricular System in the Context of Emerging Engineering Discipline, International Education and Intercultural Communication, Cultivation of Students’ Intercultural Consciousness and Communicative Abilities, and Appreciation of English Language and Culture, etc.
